Russian weightlifters are set to compete in the World Championship for the first time in 3.5 years, according to the Russian Weightlifting Federation, Report informs.

A total of 33 Russian athletes have been included in the preliminary application for the championship, which will be held in Lima, Peru, from April 30 to May 5, 2025. This event will feature youth and teenage competitors.

The last time Russian athletes participated in a World Championship for youth and teenagers was in 2021, prior to the conflict in Ukraine.

Following a decision by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), Russian and Belarusian athletes are now permitted to compete in IWF-sanctioned events under a neutral status only.
