Formula 1 management wants to reduce the number of free practice sessions in the stages of the world championship, Formula 1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali said at a press conference, Report informs.
"Every time we're on track, there should be something to fight for in terms of points or awards." He continued, "I would like to see any single session on the track, apart from the first maybe, to award something."
This would indicate that Domenicali has a desire to reformat at least the free practice two and three sessions, into sessions that will reward drivers and teams (perhaps with championship points).
He further supported this belief by continuing, "free practice is very interesting for the engineers or for the drivers. But at the end of the day, in sport, you need to fight for something."
