Flag of International Judo Federation handed over to Azerbaijan

On the last day of individual competitions at the World Judo Championships in Budapest, Hungary, the flag of the International Judo Federation (IJF) was solemnly handed over to Azerbaijan, which will host the World Championships in 2026, Report informs.

The flag was received by Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, Olympic champion Elnur Mammadli. The ceremony was attended by President of the European Judo Union Laszlo Toth, Secretary General of the International Judo Federation Lisa Allan and other officials.

The World Judo Championships will be held in Baku from July 9 to 16, 2026. Individual competitions will be held from July 9 to 15, and mixed team competitions will be held on July 16. Baku will host this prestigious tournament for the second time. The World Judo Championships were first held in Baku in 2018.
