Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso, who currently races for Alpine, can set a new record at the Azerbaijani Grand Prix.
According to Report, Alonso will be become the driver with the longest career if he competes at the Baku race this weekend.
The Spanish driver made his Formula 1 debut in March 2001. The former driver of Renault, McLaren and Ferrari will complete 21 years, 3 months and 8 days at the Azerbaijani Grand Prix. The current record belongs to seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, who has already finished his career.
On the other hand, the 41-year-old driver can surpass Kimi Raikkonen's record of 349 starts. Alonso currently has 340 races. If Alonso starts in all upcoming races, he will leave his former Ferrari teammate behind at the Singapore GP.
It is noteworthy that Fernando Alonso is a two-time (2005, 2006) world champion.
