Baku. 19 September. REPORT.AZ/ A press conference dedicated to the World Judo Championship Baku 2108 has been held.
Report informs that France's two-time Olympic champion, ten-time world champion and five-time European champion Teddy Riner, European champion Sabrina Filtsmozer from Austria, as well as Azerbaijani European champion Rustam Orujov attended the event held at the Hilton Hotel.
Orujov said that the Azerbaijani national team is well-prepared for the championship. He stressed that holding the race in Baku is a stimulus for local athletes.
While Riner does not participate in the championship, he will follow his rivals: "I decided not to participate in the two world championships. However I will watch the bouts of all my rivals. It will be a very exciting race. I am also a member of the Commission of the International Judo Federation. From this standpoint, I have some work to be done."
Filtsmozer called the world championship 'a special race': "It is a pleasure to be in Baku, where I competed several times. The World Championship is a special event for every athlete. I wish success to all the participants."
Notably, the World Judo Championship will be held on September 20 - 27 at the National Gymnastics Arena.
