Azerbaijani taekwondo fighter wins gold medal

The traditional Turkish Open International Taekwondo Tournament has kicked off in Istanbul, Turkey.

According to Report, Azerbaijan is represented by 12 taekwondo fighters in the G1 category.

Milad Beigi Harchegani, who competed in the weight class of 87 kg on the first day of the tournament, won a gold medal, beating all his rivals.

Reza Mehmandust, head coach of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation, and Elnur Amanov, head coach of the women's team, athletes - Bahruz Guliyev (54 kg), Parviz Isgandarov (58), Gasim Aslanov and Khanoglan Karimov (both 63 kg), Javad Agayev and Yashar Babayev (both 68), Aykhan Tagizade (74), Said Guliyev (80), Taleh Suleymanov and Milad Harchegani (both 87), Radik Isayev (+87 kg), and Patimat Abakarova (53) from women's team, led by the vice-president of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation Niyamaddin Pashayev, went to the three-day tournament.

In the 8th tournament, 1,590 athletes from 46 countries compete in all categories (adults, youth, teenagers, and poomsae).
