Azerbaijani Olympic freestyle wrestling champion starts training

Azerbaijani Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling Togrul Askerov began training, 1st Vice President of Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation Namiq Aliyev told journalists. According to him, Askerov, under the leadership of personal trainer Elchin Zeynalov, works in Ganja in private. He added that the titled athlete will join the collective training before the World Cup, organized in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan. Aliyev also said that woman wrestler Maria Stadnik will not participate in the European Championship due to injury.

The representative of the Federation shared his expectations from the European Championship: “The team can be assessed positively. We hope that this composition will adequately represent the country. We expect high results from our wrestlers. Our main goal is the World Cup, because it will give a license for the Olympic Games."

Notably, the European Championship will be held on April 8-14. In total, 28 athletes from Azerbaijan will take part in the competition.
