Azerbaijani judokas finished the Grand Slam in Budapest, Hungary, with three medals, Report informs.
However, none of the three Azerbaijani athletes could win a medal on the last day of the competition.
Mammadali Mehdiyev, who performed in the 90 kg weight category, defeated Jamal Petgrave (UK) in the 1/16 final, but lost to Gergely Nerpel (Hungary) in the next round.
Although Elmar Gasimov, in the 100 kg category, defeated Zlatko Kumric (Croatia) in the same round, he lost to Nikoloz Sherazadishvili (Spain).
Finally, Ushangi Kokauri in the over-100 category was stronger than Marius Fizel (Slovakia) in the 1/8 finals, but he could not break the resistance of Teddy Riner (France). Kokauri also lost to Martti Puumalainen (Finland) in the consolation match.
Nevertheless, Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) won a gold medal, Said Mollayi (81 kg) a silver medal, and Rustam Orujov (73 kg) a bronze medal.
