Azerbaijani judoka qualifies for final of Grand Slam

Baku. 26 October. REPORT.AZ/ Azerbaijani judoka Nijat Shikhalizade qualified for final of Grand Slam tournament kicked off in Abu Dhabi, UAE. 

Report informs 29-year old athlete managed to do that in 66 kg weight category.

Shikhalizade who started from final stage of round of 1/16 in his first fight defeated Lee Yuk ting from Hong Kong for 24 seconds. Afterwards he defeated Moldovan Denis Vieru, Georgian Vaja Margvelashvili and Russia's Abdulla Abduljalilov.

In the decisive fight, he will compete with experienced judoka Tal Flicker (IJF).

Today four more Azerbaijani judokas will appear on tatami.

If Vugar Shirinli (60 kg) defeats Martin Lau from Hong Kong in the round of 1/16, in the next match he will fight with Uzbek Sharofiddin Lutfillaev.

Ilkin Babazade (66 kg) lost to Mongolian Davaadorj Tumurkhuleg in the start. Aisha Gurbanly (48) was defeated by Hungarian Eva Csernoviczki and Nazakat Azizova by British Smythe-Davis Nekoda and left the competition.
