Azerbaijani chess players in FIDE ratings

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has announced its rating for April.

Azerbaijani grandmasters Teymur Rajabov (2,765 scores) and Shahriyar Mammadyarov (2,764 scores) ranked the 9th and 11th respectively.

Norwegian Magnus Carlsen tops the ratings, followed by American Fabiano Caruana and Chinese Ding Liren.

Other Azerbaijani chess players are also listed in the ranking:

Gadir Huseynov – 72nd place

Nijat Abbasov – 74th place

Rauf Mammadov – 90th place

Among women: Gunay Mammadzade – 29th place, Gulnar Mammadova – 77th place, Khanim Balajayeva – 86th place. 

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) is the governing body of the sport of chess, and it regulates all international chess competitions.

It is one of the first associations of its kind in the world, alongside the governing bodies of the sports of Football, Cricket, Swimming, and Auto Racing. In 1999, FIDE was recognized by the International Olympic Committee as a Global Sporting Organization.
