Azerbaijani chess players crowned world champions

The final round of the FIDE World Youth Chess Championships in the Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18 categories has concluded in Montesilvano, Italy.
According to Report, citing the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, Zahra Allahverdiyeva, who led the girls' Under-14 tournament, secured the world title ahead of the final round.
In the 11th round, she drew with Turkish player Tuana Abak to finish with 9 points, claiming the gold medal.
Azerbaijan's second gold medal was won by Khagan Ahmad in the Under-16 category. The reigning European Under-14 champion capped off an impressive tournament by defeating Gleb Shcheglov, competing under the FIDE flag, in the final round.
With 9.5 points from 11 rounds, Ahmad became a world champion for the first time in his career.
More than 750 players from 83 countries competed in the championship. Azerbaijani players will stand atop the podium twice, with the country's national anthem to be played in honor of their victories.
