Azerbaijan's world and four-time European champion disqualified for doping

Azerbaijani weightlifter Boyanka Kostova has been temporarily disqualified for using banned substances, Report informs, citing the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).
The Bulgarian legionnaire's doping test turned positive, as the banned anabolic steroid stanozolol was found in her body. The athlete has the right to request the results of the B test.
Boyanka Kostova claimed gold in 59 kg at the continental championship in Moscow on April 5. The 28-year-old weightlifter won the fourth European championship in her career after 2012, 2015, and 2016. She also rose to the top of the podium at the 2015 World Cup. The disqualified athlete's results in the London 2012 Summer Olympics were annulled.
