Armenian judoka declared wanted for evading military service

Baku. 16 October. REPORT.AZ/ Armenian judoka from Samara Artur Kroyan has been declared wanted for evading service in the Armed Forces of Armenia.

Report informs citing the Volga News, judoka became a citizen of Armenia in order to represent the country in 2010 at the World Judo Championships in Turkey.At the same time, he did not refuse Russian citizenship.

Then Arthur Kroyan was asked to register for military registration in order to put a mark in his passport about leaving the country.But the athlete refused to register and returned to Russia, where he joined the Russian army.During the service he was put on the wanted list for evading service in the Armed Forces of Armenia.Currently, the athlete is deprived of the opportunity to visit relatives in Armenia, and he does not receive help in resolving the issue.

Artur Kroyan appealed to the Armenian Consulate in Moscow and to the office of the Ombudsman of Armenia to give up the Armenian passport.But he was warned that he had to serve.

Notably, Arthur Kroyan is a master of sports in judo, a prize winner of the European Cup among juniors, a prize-winner of the Volga Federal District of the Russian Federation.
