The Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Equestrian Federation (ARAF), Emil Seyidov, has hailed Azerbaijan’s victory at the inaugural European Chovgan Championship in Poland as a milestone achievement and a powerful reaffirmation of national heritage.
In a statement to Report News Agency, Seyidov emphasized the cultural and historical significance of the triumph, describing it as a "celebration of our national identity, history, and cultural legacy."
“This historic victory fills us with immense pride,” Seyidov said. “Chovgan is not just a sport — it’s a part of our people’s spirit and cultural memory, preserved for centuries. Its international recognition through a European championship represents a meaningful revival of Azerbaijan’s ancient equestrian traditions.”
Seyidov attributed the team’s success to the strategic support chovgan has received within Azerbaijan, as well as the dedication and perseverance of the athletes involved.
“I sincerely congratulate our national team members, coaches, and everyone who contributed to this achievement,” he added. “May this victory inspire future generations and help elevate interest in chovgan to new heights. We have even greater goals ahead, and this is a strong start on that journey.”
Azerbaijan secured the gold medal by defeating Malta 6–2 in the final match of the tournament.
