Trial launched on 11 people arrested over Ganja events

Baku. 7 December. REPORT.AZ/ The preliminary investigation on the criminal case of 11 people on Ganja events has been completed.

Report informs that the criminal case was sent to the Ganja Court of Grave Crimes.

These persons are Maarif Hajiyev, Shahlar Rzayev, Ruslan Hasanov, Tural Bayramov, Nizami Akbarov, Kamal Maharramov, Seymur Aliyev, Togrul Verdiyev, Orkhan Yagneliyev, Araz Hasanov and Vagif Ashrafov.

They are charged with Article 220.1 (Mass riot) and Article 315.2 (Application of life and health threatening force against a state official) of the Criminal Code.

The criminal case was handed over to the judge Faig Mahmudov.

The preparatory hearing of the trial is scheduled for January 4, 2019.

There are 17 victims in the criminal case.

Notably, according to the official information, the investigation is underway on the facts of purposefully planned terrorist act against head of Ganja City Executive Power Elmar Valiyev and Police Officer Gasim Ashbazov on July 3, 2018, and use of force by a group of radical religious groups who committed mass riot by supporting terror on July 10th in Ganja.

On September 28, Attorney General Zakir Garalov told that 77 people were involved in criminal proceedings against Ganja, while 11 were wanted.
