Person killing SBS service members detained

The person who killed the servicemen of the State Border Service (SBS) has been detained, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office told Report.

On January 2, at about 6 pm, junior sergeant Avazli Elkhan Mahammad, an extended serviceman of the Border Troops, deliberately killed senior lieutenant Ismayilov Yusif Ismayil, warrant officers Jalilzade Amil Fuar and Ibarhimov Rafail Natig, opening fire from his service weapon, for unknown reasons. Then he fled the scene.

As a result of search operations, Elkhan Avazli was detained on January 3, 2022, at about 00:30 am in Malkhalaf village of the Lachin district.

An intensive investigation is underway to determine the details of the incident.
