The surviving children of an Azerbaijani family, killed in a missile attack on their home in the village of Chirkun in Ukraine's Kharkiv region, have been evacuated to Russia.

Ramin Mahmudov, a brother of Emin Mahmudov, who was killed in the accident, told Report that the children are currently in Oryol, Russia.

"With the help of our compatriots living in Russia, it was possible to take my brother's children from the border. I kept in touch, they are okey. Tomorrow, I will start work to bring them to Azerbaijan. Maybe, I myself will go to bring since the children have our surnames. After returning to the homeland, they will remain under my care," Mahmudov added.

The incident occurred on March 5. Ukrainian citizen Mahmudov Emin Zabit, his wife Mahmudova Lyudmila, and his mother-in-law died when a shell hit the house where the Azerbaijani family lived. Their 3 children survived.

Emin Mahmudov hails from Boladi village of the Lankaran District.
