Border guards serving at the border checkpoint near the Ostair village, Yardimli region of the Goytapa border group of the State Border Service saw 6 unknown gunmen moving from the territory of Islamic Republic of Iran towards the Republic of Azerbaijan, Report informs citing the State Border Service.

Border guards ordered "Stop" and opened a warning fire. However, the trespassers did not obey the order and fired at the border guards.

Border guards of the Islamic Republic of Iran were immediately informed about the incident through the border representative. Immediate search was carried out by the border guards of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

A large amount of heroin and opium drugs, a large number of powerful psychotropic substances, 1 shotgun, 6 cartridges of 6 mm cartridge rifles and grooves were detected during the investigation of the territory.

Immediately after the incident, Chief of the State Border Service Colonel Elchin Guliyev and other officials arrived at the territory, examined the scene and gave necessary instructions on the continuation of operational search.

At present, the employees of the State Border Service and the Military Prosecutor's Office are conducting necessary investigative actions at the scene.
