Germany rejects asylum request of 43 Azerbaijani citizens

In the first two months of 2023, eight Azerbaijani citizens received asylum from Germany, Lioba Hebauer, spokesperson of the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), said in response to the inquiry of the Eastern European Bureau of Report.

According to Hebauer, in the first two months of 2023, they reviewed 106 asylum applications of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan:

“Only three of them received asylum according to the third paragraph of the German Migration Law, and five received asylum according to the fourth paragraph. 43 applications were rejected.”

She noted that 55 applications by Azerbaijani citizens were forwarded to the relevant country and state bodies due to the Dublin and other procedures without reviewing.

BAMF reported that 58,802 foreign citizens applied for asylum to the federal administration in January-February 2023.
