Part of a dam collapsed in the Bala Kura delta in Azerbaijan’s Neftchala district due to water pressure, Report informs.
The intense rainfall observed in recent days has affected the rise in water levels in the Kura.
As a result, the dam built in the Bala Kura delta could not withstand the water pressure. After the collapse of the dam, a decrease in the water level in the Kura was observed.
According to experts, if the situation does not change, there is a possibility of seawater mixing with river water in the Kura delta.
Report was told by the Department of Irrigation Systems of the Neftchala district that as soon as the water level in Bala Kura decreases, work on the construction of the dam will begin.
