Head of the Republic of Daghestan Vladimir Vasilyev has visited Maharramkand district in connection with the incident on the Russia-Azerbaijan border and held a meeting there.

The official website of the Daghestani head posted the relevant information, Report says.

The meeting decided to send 155 Azerbaijani citizens home. The list mainly includes women with children, the elderly, the sick, as well as people stranded at the border for a long time.

Deputy Prime Minister of Daghestan Ramazan Jafarov said that five Azerbaijani citizens were hospitalized in connection with the border incident.

On June 15, Russian service members opened fire at the Azerbaijani citizens who have been stuck at the border between Russia and Azerbaijan and waiting to return homeland for about two months. Consequently, two Azerbaijanis were killed, and some were wounded, according to reports.

On March 18, Azerbaijan suspended land and air traffic with Russia to stem the spread of coronavirus.
