The trial of Emin Gasimzada, charged with crimes against Azerbaijan’s constitutional order, has come to a close, Report informs.
The verdict was delivered in a session at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, overseen by Judge Telman Huseynov.
Gasimzada was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
He was accused of transmitting sensitive information to Armenia, undermining Azerbaijan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.
The indictment highlighted his public calls against the state on his Facebook page, alongside actions intended to sow national hatred and enmity within Azerbaijan.
Gasimzada was found guilty of meeting the demands of individuals he contacted via social media, sending them photographs of Shusha and other areas they requested, along with other critical information.
Charged under Articles 274 (Treason), 281.2 (public calls against the state), and 283.1 (incitement of national hatred), Gasimzada was held criminally accountable by the State Security Service.
