A document examined during the ongoing court proceedings at the Baku Military Court on June 20 showed that the accused, Bako Sahakyan, agreed to participate in a session of the inquiry committee that had been established in the National Assembly of Armenia in connection with the April clashes.
According to Report, the accused confirmed this information while responding to the prosecutor's question in court. He stated that an inquiry committee was set up in Armenia after the April clashes. The committee was chaired by Andranik Kocharyan, the head of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security Affairs of the Armenian Parliament.
"Both military personnel and civilians answered various questions during the sessions of this committee. The committee sent me an invitation as they couldn't force me to attend the session," Sahakyan said.
The accused stated that he gave comprehensive answers to the committee's questions.
Sahakyan explained the reason for establishing the inquiry committee in Armenia regarding the battles that took place on Azerbaijani territory as follows: "It was normal for the inquiry committee to be established in the National Assembly of Armenia because the matter concerned a military operation carried out by the Armenian Armed Forces."
The trial of citizens of the Republic of Armenia accused of committing numerous crimes as a result of Armenia's military aggression—including crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, preparing and waging an aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing of terrorism, violent seizure and retention of power—will continue on June 21.
