Azerbaijani, Chinese courts explore collaboration prospects

The Chairman of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan, Inam Karimov, visited Hangzhou city of the People's Republic of China on April 22-23, Report informs, citing the Supreme Court.

As part of the visit, Inam Karimov first held a bilateral meeting with Zhang Jun, the Chairman of the Supreme People's Court of China. Karimov provided detailed information about the judicial-legal reforms and innovations carried out in Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the importance of mutual exchange of experience in the judicial system was emphasized, and issues of mutual interest and prospects for cooperation in the judicial field between the two countries were also discussed.

Later, Inam Karimov participated in the 20th meeting of the chairmen of the supreme courts of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Discussions were held on expanding cooperation in the judicial field within the framework of the SCO.

Karimov also spoke at the meeting, emphasizing the importance of the meeting in terms of establishing long-term legal cooperation between friendly countries. It was noted that this platform creates a great opportunity to conduct joint discussions, share experiences aimed at progress, and take steps towards an innovative future.

It was highlighted that under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, progressive reforms are being carried out in the judicial-legal system of Azerbaijan. As a result of the work done in this regard over the past period, numerous changes have been made to the legislation, and these changes have made an important contribution to the development of the judicial system in Azerbaijan.

Karimov also discussed the topic of "Legal applications of artificial intelligence." It was stated that artificial intelligence offers extensive opportunities for legal systems. It reduces workload and increases access to justice. It was also emphasized that artificial intelligence should not replace the role of the judge, but should serve as a supportive tool, and legal decisions should always remain within the authority of experienced judges.

After discussing specific issues, a Joint Statement of the Chairmen of the Supreme Courts of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was signed with the aim of jointly promoting the rule of law and strengthening mutual activities for the protection of human rights and freedoms.
