Azerbaijan announces number of suicides over past two years 

Statistics on suicides and suicide attempts registered in Azerbaijan over the past two years have been published, Report informs, citing the Executive Authority for Gender Equality.

According to the document, 1,182 suicides and 1,830 suicide attempts were registered in the country in 2019-2020.

Thus, if the number of suicides was 597 in 2020, while this figure was was 585 in 2019: "In 2019, 863 people attempted to commit suicide. This figure was 967 people in 2020."

It is reported that suicides are more common among men than women.
