World Bank highlights Azerbaijan’s growing interest in digital industry

Interest in the digital industry, specifically online transactions and internet banking, is growing in Azerbaijan, consultant of the World Bank (WB) Khalisa Shahverdiyeva said at the second annual reporting meeting of the Azerbaijan Rapid Technical Assistance Facility (AZTAF) program, funded by the EU and managed by the WB, Report informs.

“Research shows that 47% of the population is willing to learn more about conducting online transactions, while 40% are interested in internet banking,” Shahverdieva said.

According to her, Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan had the largest need for digital learning, with 87% of the Kangarli district population and 79% of the Sharur district residents wishing to improve their digital skills.

“Additionally, the agricultural sector can also benefit from access to the internet by adopting smart farming techniques such as digital farming, precision farming, and marketing,” the WB consultant added.
