Rector: Azerbaijan's most educated students choose specialties in digital field

The most talented, skilled, and educated students in Azerbaijan are choosing specialties related to the digital field, Elmar Gasimov, the rector of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), said at the opening ceremony of the training titled "New cyber defense methods supported by artificial intelligence in wireless communication" held in Baku, Report informs.

The rector noted that currently, the most prestigious specialties in Azerbaijan are related to the digital field: "For the 6th year now, the specialty of the year in our country is information security, first created at BHOS. Students with the highest scores in Azerbaijan choose this specialty. Out of the five prestigious specialties chosen by students, three are related to the digital field.."

Gasimov stated that highly qualified teachers, programs, and goals are needed: "We need future research in this direction and mentors related to this field. We face the most difficulties with mentors."

According to Gasimov, the training provides the golden triangle that plays a key role in the development of universities: "This golden triangle is the cooperation between industry, research, and universities. This training ensures the golden triangle. We must admit that Azerbaijani universities cannot organize such prestigious pieces of training. With the organization of such training, this process becomes accessible to us. Our teachers will be able to pass on the knowledge they learn in the training to other educators."
