Rashad Nabiyev: Internet speed in Azerbaijan expected to surpass 80 Mbps this year

The average internet speed in Azerbaijan is projected to exceed 80 Mbps by the end of the year, Azerbaijani Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev said at the INMerge Innovation Summit, organized by PASHA Holding in Baku, Report informs.
Nabiyev highlighted the progress of the Online Azerbaijan project, initiated two years ago to extend fiber optic lines to the most remote areas of the country.
“When we started the project, the average internet speed in Azerbaijan was around 12 Mbps. However, this speed surpassed 50 Mbps in August of this year. Initially, we believed that 25 Mbps would be sufficient,” he explained.
