Rashad Nabiyev: ‘472,000 people provided with access to high-speed internet in first half of 2022'

While in 2015-2020, only 150,000 citizens of Azerbaijan had access to fiber-optic Internet, only in the first half of 2022, a total of 472,000 people were provided with access to high-speed internet, Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev said at the international conference themed "Innovative approach to the development of cities and rural areas: smart cities and villages" held in Baku.

"By the end of 2024, the entire population of the country will be provided with high-speed internet. This is one of the main issues the head of state has put before us. Of course, we are also responsible for ensuring the safety of the virtual environment. For this purpose, we have negotiated with Israel's Technion University to train 3,000 specialists in the next three years," he said.
