Ministry names reason behind blocking Russian news agency's website in Azerbaijan

The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan has commented on the restriction of access to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti in the country.

In response to Report's request, the ministry noted that the restriction of access to Internet information resources in connection with cases of posting information, the distribution of which is prohibited in the country, is regulated by the law "On Information, Informatization and Information Protection."

Under this law, by decision of the relevant executive authority, access to an online information resource or its relevant part is limited in the event of a threat to the legally protected interests of the state and society.

It is not the first time that this agency disseminates information directed against the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, promoting slanderous and separatist tendencies.
