Kaspersky Lab found powerful spy software tapping phone calls of users

Baku.18 January. REPORT.AZ/ Kaspersky Lab experts revealed the complex multifunctional software for focused surveillance using mobile devices. Report was told from the company.

Malicious implant called Skygofree, has been active at least since 2014 and features some functions that have never been encountered in mobile malwares before. For instance, Skygofree is capable to tap the conversations and intercept the sound as soon as device will be in particular location, interested by perpetrators. In addition, he may steal the messages in WhatsApp messengers and connect the device to WI-FI network controlled by attackers. Specialists identified there 48 various functions in total.

Skygofree is also capable to take photo and video, intercept phone calls and messages, collect information about location, events in calendar and data stored in the memory of device. The spy software even has special functions that allows to bypass the energy conservation technology, developed by one of the leading mobile device producers. Implant adds itself to the list of secured applications thanks to which its operation does not automatically turn off when screen is switched off.

Despite that Skygofree mostly oriented on mobile devices, researchers found several of its modules for Windows platform.
