Israel Kehat: Almost impossible to obtain fresh satellite images of Azerbaijan

It is almost impossible to obtain fresh, high-quality satellite images of the territory of Azerbaijan, Israel Kehat, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of SkyCues – EarthToDate, a satellite imagery company, said at the Space Technology Conference (STC2025) in Baku, Report informs.

He noted that there is no resource where they could be requested, and this problem is typical not only for Azerbaijan, but also for many other countries.

"For monitoring in agriculture and forestry, as well as in emergency situations or illegal construction work, prompt and accurate data are needed. The use of artificial intelligence, machine learning and human resources is possible only with this data. The problem is that this information is often missing," Kehat emphasized.

He added that the satellite databases used in the world today are updated in extremely limited cases, which creates serious difficulties for monitoring.

"If you want to receive images monthly or in the same season, it is almost impossible," he explained.
