Hungarian company: Co-op with Azerbaijan creates new opportunities in space sector

Azerbaijan's growing potential and regional role in the space sector create significant opportunities for strategic cooperation, said Sebastian Misurak, Business Development Manager at Hungary's leading technology company 4iG Space and Defence Technologies, Report informs.

He made the remark at the Space Technology Conference (STC2025) held in Baku.

"Although we are a private company, we carry responsibility as a national technology champion and intend to fulfill this role in the space sector. We believe that cooperation with developing countries like Azerbaijan will both strengthen the spirit of partnership and contribute to technological advancement," Misurak noted.

The official stated that as part of the FooSat program implemented by 4iG, a total of 9 satellites - one in GEO and eight in LEO orbit - are planned for production.

He emphasized that this program also envisions the creation of ground infrastructure and a data ecosystem, and cooperation with Azerbaijan’s Space Agency (Azercosmos) is of particular importance in this area.

"It is not possible to implement projects of this scale alone. Therefore, we place special emphasis on partnership, technology and knowledge exchange. Our cooperation with Azercosmos is very valuable in this regard. This cooperation will further strengthen both our position and Azerbaijan's position in the global space economy," Misurak highlighted.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed between Azercosmos and 4iG S&D covers small satellite production, the Earth observation data projects, joint participation in European space programs, and space innovation initiatives.
