By the end of 2023, fiber-optic Internet will cover 55% of the territory of Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samir Mammadov said at a panel discussion on the topic “Creating an innovation ecosystem”, organized within the Education Development Forum in Baku, Report informs.
“By the end of 2024, the entire country will be covered by high-speed Internet. Internet with a speed of at least 30 Mbit/s will be available even in remote villages,” he added.
The deputy minister noted that the ministry attaches great importance to the issue of digitalization in the field of education.
“With the support of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Technest scholarship program is being implemented. Thanks to it, to date, about 4,000 people have been trained in the ICT field. Almost all of them were employed in about six months and receive an average salary of 1,300 manats per month. We spent 3,000-3,500 manats ($2,058) on training each of these specialists. These figures show over what period of time the invested capital can pay off,” Mammadov said.
