Türkiye has launched deep space missions, Bulent Avenoglu, Deputy Director of TUBITAK Space Technologies Research Institute, said during his speech at the Space Technology Conference (STC2025) held in Baku, Report informs.
"It is a pleasure for us to share the development path of Türkiye's space capabilities. TUBITAK Space began its activities many years ago with satellite technologies. We have prepared many satellites placed in LEO and GEO orbits. Today, we have already started deep space missions as well," Avenoglu mentioned.
He added that the Earth observation and telecommunication satellites, their subsystems - telecommunication equipment, power systems, onboard and flight computers, as well as flight software, are prepared completely independently by the institute:
"Moreover, we also work in the field of optical payload equipment. We have prepared an electro-optical camera within the framework of the imaging project. Our technological capabilities are also extensive in the field of remote sensing and image processing."
Avenoglu stated that the institute also has serious experience in the management of space objects: "Currently, we can carry out satellite management, and we have ground stations and antenna systems. We are actively participating in Türkiye's deep space mission at present."
