Azerbaijan’s Space Agency (Azercosmos) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport has begun collaborating with the global satellite operator ABS.

According to Report, citing Azercosmos, a contract regarding this cooperation was signed at the "IBC 2024" international exhibition conference held in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, from September 13 through September 16.

Through this partnership, Azercosmos will provide "Pay TV" services to its customers in Nigeria via a satellite owned by ABS.

Notably, "Pay TV" is a service that is only activated by subscribing to a satellite or cable television company.

Simultaneously, the partnership with the global satellite operator creates opportunities for Azercosmos to expand new business lines. It generates revenue not only from the sale of its own satellite resources but also from the commercialization of satellite services belonging to global partners, increasing the volume of video services in the African market.

"This collaboration, which creates new commercial opportunities in several directions, will further increase Azercosmos' services in the African region. Quality, customer satisfaction, and service continuity are at the core of our joint work with ABS," said Fuad Aslanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Azercosmos.

Ramsey Khanfour, Chief Commercial Officer of ABS, added, "This partnership provides an opportunity to expand both our coverage and service offerings in the West African market. We will combine our expertise in the region with reliable and high-quality pay-TV broadcasting services."
