Azerbaijan is actively prioritizing the topic of space sustainability, according to Samaddin Asadov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Space Agency (Azerkosmos).

According to Report, speaking at the Space Generation Azerbaijan (SG Azerbaijan) event in Baku, Asadov emphasized the country's commitment to ensuring that space activities do not negatively impact the cosmos and Earth.

"While there is no universally accepted definition of space sustainability, it generally encompasses measures aimed at preventing adverse effects of space activities on both space and Earth," Asadov explained. "Azerbaijan keeps this crucial issue at the forefront of its agenda."

Asadov highlighted Azerbaijan's proactive approach, stating, "For instance, we coordinate our satellite management activities and work towards the long-term sustainability of space operations, including efforts to avoid potential collisions."

The chairman also mentioned the collaborative efforts between the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) and local educational institutions, working in partnership with the Azerbaijan Space Agency.
