The Mini Communication Satellite (MCS) project showcased by the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) opens new opportunities for Azerbaijan in the satellite communication field, according to the IAI official Niko Adamsky, Report informs.

Speaking at the Space Technology Conference (STC2025) in Baku, Adamsky stated that in the rapidly changing global communications market, the demand for more accessible and flexible solutions is increasing, and MCS fully meets this need.

"IAI has been operating in the aerospace and defense industry for more than 70 years. The company has been manufacturing satellites in LEO and GEO orbits for more than 40 years and is one of the world's leading manufacturers in this field. The organization is also among the top 10 companies in the world in the management of electrically powered satellites," he added.

The official also discussed the main advantages of the MCS project: "Lightweight, multifunctional satellite technology with a fully digital control system is of particular importance for countries looking for new solutions in this field. These satellites can be adapted to any business model, change the service area in different regions, and operate continuously in orbit for 15 years."

Adamsky further said that the MCS project could expand Azerbaijan's capabilities in satellite technologies: "Currently, our country continues to strengthen its position in regional satellite communications with the Azerspace project. In this regard, more flexible, more cost-effective, and modern technology-based mini satellite models could be relevant for expanding Azerbaijan's national sovereign communication programs, as well as providing communications in the most remote parts of the region."

According to him, bringing technologies like MCS to the country could create a foundation for local specialists to receive training on these systems and for Azerbaijan to transition to a new stage in the satellite industry.

"MCS satellites have already been put into serial production and are ready to respond to orders from various countries. Azerbaijan's interest in this technology could be the next strategic step towards digital sovereignty and information security," he noted.
