Apple has postponed the development of the HomePod smart speaker with a screen until at least 2024, Mark Gurman, a well-known insider and Bloomberg correspondent, said in his new Power On digest, Report informs.
He noted that the delay is part of Apple’s strategy to cut costs. Postponing the creation of the new HomePod will allow Apple to direct more money to research and development in higher priority areas like augmented and mixed reality.
The cost-cutting strategy is said to improve Apple’s stability in a volatile global economy. In particular, Apple’s efforts should help the corporation avoid massive cuts that have previously taken place in Meta (recognized as extremist in Russia and banned), Amazon, Microsoft and Google.
