Android smartphones to have support for satellite connectivity

Google SVP of Platforms & Ecosystems Hiroshi Lockheimer announced on Twitter that the company is working on building satellite communication support into the next version of Android (v14).

According to Report, the company noted that the user experience for phones that can connect to satellites will be different from conventional LTE and 5G connections. The main goal of the project is to provide users with communication in places where there is no cellular network, so the throughput of this format per cellular zone will be no more than 2-4 Mbps.
