Coronavirus can be transmitted from humans to animals, so those infected should limit contact with pets, said the WHO representative in Russia Melita Vujnovic,
“It is currently recommended that people with COVID-19 and those at risk limit contact with pets and other animals,” Vujnovic said.
She explained this by the fact that when transmitted between an animal and a person, the virus can mutate, which can have consequences for the disease in humans.
“WHO urges to closely monitor any changes in the virus and prevent any animal-to-human transmission and possible changes,” added the representative of WHO.
