People with the Omicron variant of coronavirus are much less likely to be hospitalized than those with the Delta, Britain’s health security agency (UKHSA) has said.

Report informs, citing British media, that, according to the information, those with Omicron are between 50 per cent and 70 per cent less likely to need hospital treatment.

“Our latest analysis shows an encouraging early signal that people who contract the Omicron variant may be at a relatively lower risk of hospitalization than those who contract other variants,” the agency’s chief executive Jenny Harries said.

The omicron strain was detected in late November in SAR, Botswana, Israel and has already been reported in several countries in Europe, as well as the United States. Scientists believe that it can be dangerous since it spreads much faster than all the previous strains revealed throughout the pandemic and contains more mutations, including over 30 in S-protein.
