Omicron already in Azerbaijan

An omicron variant of coronavirus has been identified in Azerbaijan, reads a joint statement of the Healthcare Ministry, the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance and the Azerbaijani Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB), Report informs.
The statement notes that as part of the measures taken to control the epidemiological situation in the country, a regular analysis of the genetic variants of the virus is carried out.
The SARS-CoV-2 21K variant (omicron strain) was found in 12 PCR test samples taken from those who arrived in Azerbaijan from abroad.
