Number of registered HIV patients in Azerbaijan revealed

A total of 8,202 Azerbaijani citizens living with HIV are officially registered at the Republican AIDS Center, Gunash Jafarova, head of the Republican AIDS Center, said, Report informs.

“Of them, 5,704 (69.6%) are men, and 2,498 (30.4%) are women. The HIV cascade applied to people living with HIV in the world and in our country allows us to assess the effectiveness of national response to the HIV epidemic, clearly shows the scope, accessibility and quality of HIV prevention and treatment services. Progress has been made in the implementation of the Global 90-90-90 goals set within the Cascade HIV services, and Azerbaijan is among the countries close to the set goals,” she said.
