Ministry: There is no information about spread of Eris variant of COVID-19 in Azerbaijan

There is no official information about the spread of the Eris variant of COVID-19 in Azerbaijan, the expert of the Ministry of Health, infectious disease specialist Vasif Aliyev, said in his response to Report’s inquiry.

He recalled that a new variant of COVID-19 has been reported in neighboring countries: "Since the new strain of COVID-19, as well as flu and other respiratory infections, have relatively mild symptoms, patients in most cases do not go to hospitals and polyclinics for testing, and receive treatment at home. This, in turn, makes it difficult to officially register people infected with such infections."

“I would like to inform our citizens that protection measures from all respiratory infections are the same. It is important to follow sanitary and hygienic rules such as social distancing, monitoring the sick person at home, hand hygiene, etc.,” Vasif Aliyev said.
