To date, no cases of monkeypox have been reported in Azerbaijan, Report says referring to the Ministry of Health.
Monkeypox is a viral zoonosis (a virus transmitted to humans from animals). It can enter the human body through damaged skin, respiratory tract, eyes, nose, and mucous membranes of the mouth. The disease can be transmitted from person to person only through prolonged and close contact. The main symptoms of the disease are unusual purulent rashes that start on the face and spread throughout the body in a short time. A patient or those in contact with that person are not considered contagious until the clinical signs of the disease have developed.
