Scientists have explained why anosmia is a "good" symptom of the coronavirus, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.
Scientists from the Complutense University of Madrid and specialists from the San Carlos Clinical Hospital conducted a study that involved 5,868 patients with COVID-19.
The experts concluded that the loss of the sense of smell indicates a higher chance of the patient's easier and faster transfer of the disease.
According to them, this condition is a sign of a strong immune response, which reduces the risk of developing a cytokine storm - a potentially lethal reaction of the body's immune system.
