Infectionist: Cases of flu infections among children on rise

Influenza-infected people should either stay at home or be treated in the hospital depending on the situation, specialist expert of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Healthcare, infectious disease specialist Tayyar Eyvazov said, Report informs.

He noted that severe and dangerous complications are inherent in influenza: “Although those infected with influenza in most cases suffer a mild illness, there are also deaths. However, compared with coronavirus, the mortality rate from influenza is not so high.”

According to the infectious disease specialist, influenza infection occurs in all age groups: “However, the number of cases of infection among minors attending kindergarten and school is growing. People with a weakened immune system, pregnant women are also at risk. In the autumn-winter period, preference should be given to nutrition rich in vitamins and minerals.”
