Health Ministry official: No need for additional PCR testing

With omicron as the dominant strain in Azerbaijan, there is no need for additional PCR testing, an expert with the Ministry of Health Tayyar Eyvazov has said.

Report quotes him as saying a PCR test only detects the coronavirus infection.

"The presence of a specific strain can be detected through an additional test. However, the recently observed symptoms of the disease indicate the predominance of the omicron strain in the country. Therefore, there is no need for additional PCR testing," he said.
