A total of 2,300,000 women were diagnosed with breast cancer in the world, and 627,000 women died because of it in 2018 alone, Jeyhun Isayev, a specialist doctor at Liv Bona Dea Hospital said speaking at the event on "360-degree assessment of Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood".
The doctor said that breast cancer kills more people than war:
"For example, the 11-year war in Syria has killed 610,000 people. Aside from other types of cancer, breast cancer alone killed 627,000 women in one year. Our main goal is to prevent this. Breast cancer is a completely curable disease. But the main condition for this is early diagnosis."
Isayev emphasized that the patient he operated on 10 years ago has no health problems at the moment: "The reason is early diagnosis. With the development of the field of radiology, there is a significant decrease in the number of deaths from breast cancer. Currently, when we look at the statistics in America and Europe, we see that breast cancer is more common, but the death rate is lower. This is because the society has been educated about early diagnosis. Therefore, patients in these countries have more chances to recover from cancer."
